About Us
Between23 was created to support young people who are stuck in the gap between asking for help and receiving it. Across the UK, long waiting times for mental health services mean many are left without support during some of their most difficult moments, with challenges often worsening over time.
We believe that having someone to talk to, who listens without judgement, can make a powerful difference. Through 1:1 sessions, group activities, and a weekly hub, we provide early, community-based support that helps individuals feel heard, understood, and less alone.
Our approach focuses on reducing isolation, building confidence, and supporting wellbeing while people wait for formal services. We work alongside existing mental health provision, offering support that meets people where they are, when they need it most.
Our Story
Between23 was created from lived experience and a deep understanding of the gaps that exist within mental health support. With over 10 years of community-based work, we have seen first-hand how many individuals struggle to access the help they need, particularly those who cannot afford private support and are left waiting.
The name “Between23” reflects this reality. “Between” represents the time spent between services, where support is often limited, and “23” marks the year our founder experienced this period personally. This experience shaped the foundation of B23 and the belief that no one should have to face that time alone.
The project has been co-created through conversations with communities, shaped by lived experience, and informed by professionals and directors. It builds on years of supporting individuals in similar situations and aims to create something that is accessible, meaningful, and needed.
